When I draw/write, my mental benchmarks generally start with “Kuwabara is a full head taller than Yusuke, Yusuke is a full head taller than Hiei, Kurama (Minamino Shuichi) is half a head taller than Yusuke” and then extrapolate other characters from other panels based on this basic measuring stick (of Yusuke basically lmao). The animation team has stated one of the hardest things was figuring out relative heights from Togashi’s drawings lol. (Apologies for the not-so-great quality, neither of these pieces are great for my tiny old scanner so I had to take photos with my phone.)
